A technological center for developing pipelines, the CTDUT was inaugurated in 2006 as the result of a partnership between Petrobras, Transpetro and Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ).
A not for profit private Research and Development Institution available for use by any company or institution, CTDUT expanded the experimental capacity of the Brazilian technological park and met the demand of the pipeline sector for installations capable of conducting practical demonstrations, real scale tests, technical qualification and technological and laboratory structure for research and development (R&D) for technological innovations.
With resources from the Oil and Gas Sectorial Fund (CTPetro), tied to the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT), through the Financer of Studies and Projects (FINEP) and the National Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuel Agency (ANP), the Center has companies, universities, teaching and research institutions and representative organizations from the industry, such as the National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (Inmetro), the Institute for Technological Research (IPT) and the National Institute of Technology (INT) as its members.
Strategic location – The CTDUT is located in Rio de Janeiro, near Transpetro, the Refinaria de Duque de Caxias (REDUC) – today the most complete and complex refinery in the Petrobras system – and other petrochemical companies.
